It is with great sadness, that the Wheatsheaf in Dry Doddington has announced it is closing on the 3rd February. We used to cycle there when we first came to the village for the odd Hendricks.
This is the announcement on their website:
The Wheatsheaf Inn will close permanently on Friday, February 3rd, and it is with great sadness that we make this announcement.
Although we have taken drastic measures to reduce our operating costs, this has not been enough, and the sales have continued to fall while our energy and operating costs rise, highlighting the impact of the cost of living crisis on our business.
Yesterday, on a normally busy Friday night, we only had a dozen customers despite having a Gastro food van, and tonight, at 9 o’clock on a Saturday evening, the pub is empty.
Furthermore, we have been informed that the local parish councils continue to oppose our planning application to oppose our application and our efforts to diversify and expand our pub’s business opportunities and financial viability.
To those who have helped us in the past, we are grateful and hope the best for you.
