Below is an email addressed to all Stubton residents from the Village Hall (HUB).
Dear residents of Stubton
You will see that we are flying the Union flag, this week in Stubton, to show our support and remember the 80 years anniversary since the very first Victory in Europe Day.
Starting today, Monday May 5th, celebrations will be going on all over the country for this week.
Thursday 8th May – This is the actual VE Day when our Allied forces accepted Germany’s surrender after signing this on May 7th, 1945. Two minutes’ silence will be held across the country at 12pm. This is led by government buildings and departments.
In Stubton, a special flag will be raised on the morning of May 8th and you are invited to meet at the flagpole at 8.55pm when we will show our respect for all of those who made numerous sacrifices during World War II enabling us to live freely.
At 9.10 pm we will observe a strict 2 minutes’ silence.
We look forward to joining with you to share this remembrance.
Kind regards
