Draft Minutes of PC Meeting – 23 Sept’ 2024

Councillors: Sam Mitchell, Mya Watkins, Jackie Britten-Crooks, Sam Kirk, Jenny Taylor.

The minutes are extracted from the Stubton Parish Council website, with some minor reformatting to make them readable in PDF format.

I do wish the draft minutes would be succinct, accurate and contain only what was said in the meeting and not outside of it . Consequently, I have added a link to the Youtube audio for people to hear what was actually said.

I am also very surprised at the unprofessional acumen shown, when you read “Correspondence“. This type of minute writing from a councillor is wholly inappropriate, unnecessary and very inflammatory and thus divisive in our small village, this is why the council MUST have a professional clerk. I will upload the audio recording of the meeting dated 17 June 2024 (including a transcript), and you will hear what was actually said that is referred to in the minutes. 🤪 😀

I’m all for debate, but divisive minutes such as these, should be called out for what they are – bullying and defamatory (if it was me I would seeking professional guidance on this). I would suggest that the acting clerk should understand the important role she has undertaken and show some professionalism and all councillors would be wise to implement the “Nolan Principles”.

No one has a problem with adhering to the Standing Orders, I implore it. However, this type of rhetoric is totally unnecessary and I had hoped the Chairman would have prevented it.

NB: It took them two months to respond to my Clerk application after a reminder was sent, and then to be told they were not recruiting. It is very clear why there wasn’t a position (only one applicant), the “inner circle” must be protected at all costs. 😀 Very sad, as I do want the village to succeed and would have done my best for the Parish Council.

Councils should not be running without actively trying to recruit a Clerk, whether full time or temporary. My guess is the position will be reopened when the PC have a preferred candidate available.
