Margaret Flint contacted Andrew Savage of LCC in 2022 to investigate and request the installation of kissing gates on the footpath between Stubton and Claypole. In March 2023 Andrew Savage wrote to the land owners asking their permission to install gates on the their land.
In 2023 began the initial stages of replacing some stiles and gates began. Andrew Savage hoped that funding in subsequent budgets would allow completion of the whole route, subject to the land owners permission.
NB: The cost of the gates is £400 per set, hence the piecemeal replacement (cost).
Below are images of some of the new gates and original stiles, which are fantastic and make it much easier to hike the route. Unfortunately, the PC have not yet thanked Margaret for initiating this project, in fact they claim they initiated the work.
