The village gates were added to the 4 approach roads into Stubton a number of years ago by SPC. The purpose is to look good and calm traffic entering the village. Personally, I think they achieve their objective and they certainly are attractive. As wooden structures, maintenance is required at regular intervals and by and large they look well today, five years after installation. The worst pair are on Doddington Lane where they suffer from fights with agricultural equipment due to their proximity to the carriageway.
