Update (October 24 2024).
Network Rail has temporarily closed the level crossing on the grounds of public safety. They initially closed the level crossing (Claypole Public Bridleway No. 8) for 12 months and the Secretary of State has recently extended the order for a further 12 months meaning that the order will now expire in August 2025.
Network Rail has ambitions of permanently diverting the public bridleway onto an alternative alignment which does not involve crossing the East Coast Main Line. Please not that there will be a period of public consultation so you will have the right to comment to the legal order.
