The expanding village – 9 homes approved, 5 in consultation!

I am sure everyone is aware that the village is currently going through an expansion phase. Currently, there are 14 proposed new homes, of which 9 have been accepted by the SKDC Planning team after a successful appeal. Until today, I was happy with the previous proposals, but the latest application dated 10 February gives me some concerns. I am sure an Extraordinary Parish Council Meeting will be announced soon, where any concerns will be discussed and I am sure alleviated before individuals can formulate an opinion!

Who will be the next applicant for planning? Brandon Road is not featured and there are parcels of land where people could jump on the bandwagon.

We all know the possible infills and the parcels of land that could be built on (will identify areas on a map later). Barkston has just had planning request for 90 homes. I doubt our NDP won’t stop these large applications.

EDIT: (17 May 2026) – according to the Newark Advertiser S25/1860 has been approved. Meaning that 9 homes have been accepted. District councillor, has also declared this application has been approved.
