Deadline looms for postal vote applications

Polling cards have been delivered to those registered to vote – so voters are being urged to check the details to know exactly where to vote – and which constituency they are registered for.

There are just two changes to polling station locations within South Kesteven, but those living in the south of the district may find they are voting for an MP for the Rutland and Stamford Constituency or the South Holland and the Deepings Constituency.

To check the candidates for these neighbouring constituencies, which still fall within South Kesteven District, please check at www.rutland.gov.uk/elections-voting/general-election-2024 or www.sholland.gov.uk/GeneralElection

There is just one week to go before the deadline to apply for a postal vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday 19th June by 5pm. Residents need to be registered to vote to apply for a postal vote: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

The deadline to register is Tuesday 18 June by 11.59pm: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Acting Returning Officer, SKDC Chief Executive Karen Bradford, said: “Postal ballot papers will be sent out on 17th June, with more going out on 24th June for more recent applicants. The best way to send your vote back to us is by using Royal Mail – allow enough time for it to arrive by 10pm on Polling Day for it to be counted. You must be registered to vote to apply for a postal vote.”
